Beatrice Fleischlin

Beatrice Fleischlin creates contemporary theatre works in the independent scene, mostly in collaboration with other artists. These collaborations lead her to constantly explore her own means anew, a process from which very different works emerge.

After a personal crisis in her late thirties, she realised that a life defined exclusively by projects and successes would lead her into a spiral of crises of meaning and isolation. She therefore cultivates a “social reality” in her private life and in her role as artistic director of projects. This means that she tries to recognise, acknowledge and promote the interests and needs of her colleagues (including those not related to her specific work) and, where possible, integrate them into her artistic work.

Fleischlin also plays in projects by colleagues and works in supportive positions. These include works by Andreas Liebmann, Antje Schupp, the helium x collective, Nina Langensand, I-fen Lin and Monika Truong. Together with Nicolas Galeazzi and Andreas Liebmann, she is part of the GASTSTUBE° collective.

She has an ongoing collaboration with Anja Meser. Under the label fleischlin/meser, they combine research on political/social issues with fragments from the pop business to create artistic/social events that usually take place in a stage space. www.fleischlinmeser.com

In 2021 fleischlin/meser were honoured with a swiss performing art award from the Federal Office of Culture.
