Grazia Pergoletti

Born in Basel, the daughter of an immigrant from Assisi and a Swiss mother. After completing her preliminary course at the Basel School of Design, she gained her first stage experience at the Junges Theater Basel and trained as an actress in Bern from 1984. In 1989, together with director Meret Matter and actress Ruth Schwegler, she founded Theater Club 111, with which she has realized over 50 productions to date as an actress and co-author. Together with the troupe, she was involved in setting up the Tojo Theater at the Reitschule Bern from 1989 to 2001, during which time she took over as co-director. In 2016, she created the play «Metamorphosen» with the troupe Mother T.-Rex and director Marie Bues, which toured internationally, including to the Dramafest in Mexico City.

She has appeared in numerous guest performances at festivals such as Impulse, Spielartfestival München, Fast Forward Braunschweig, Auawirleben Bern, Theaterspektakel and Festspiele Zürich, as well as several productions at HAU and Sophiensäle Berlin, Theater Rampe in Stuttgart, Theater Chur, Kaserne Basel and Theaterhaus Gessnerallee Zürich.

From 2004 to 2007, and again from 2017 to 2021, Pergoletti was a member of the ensemble at the Stadttheater Bern, b.z.w. Konzert Theater Bern, most recently appearing in «Frau verschwindet. Versions» and «Coco – a transgender musical», which was invited to the Swiss Theatertreffen. Guest engagements have taken her to the Schauspielhaus Zurich, the Theaterhaus Jena, the Theater Basel and the Konzert und Theater St. Gallen.

She has worked with the directors Meret Matter, Marie Bues and Tomas Schweigen for many years. She has also worked with Florentine Krafft, Christina Rast, Antje Schupp, Anna Papst, Barbara-David Brüesch, Sabine Boss, Annina Dullin, Zino Wey, Lorenz Nufer, Ed. Hauswirth, Markus Heinzelmann, Christoph Frick, Stefan Huber, Calixto Bieito, Jonas Knecht, Niko Eleftheriadis, Sebastian Klink, Cihan Inan, Henri Hüster, Ludger Engels, David Mouchtar-Samorai and Samuel Schwarz, among others.

In 2023, Grazia Pergoletti was awarded the Bürgi-Willert Foundation Culture Prize. In 2023/24 she will be on stage at the Neues Theater Dornach in the highly acclaimed Swiss premiere of «Judith Shakespeare – Rape and Revenge” by Paula Thielecke (director: Florentine Krafft).

Grazia Pergoletti has been a lecturer in acting at the Stage Academy of Switzerland since 2014.
