Anan Fries – VIRTUAL WOMBS

Drawing on their own experiences of pregnancy and inspired by the philosopher Rosi Braidotti, Anan Fries and Malu Peeters address the construct of the pregnant post-human. This one does not understand gender as binary and nature and technology as opposites. His pregnancy is technology. His body is fiction and reality, is animation and image. It is an ultimate, intimate experience of plurality, of possibility, and of change. It is an attempt to think being and becoming differently.

The artists are connected by a long-standing collaboration in the context of the performance collective Henrike Iglesias and the game theater collective machina eX. The two are passionate about virtual possibilities, immersive experiments, and taking audiences to unfamiliar places while creating safe and tender spaces.
