STATZGI FLEXEN
On a sunny day at the Buvette with a view of the St. Johanns Park on the Rhine, we meet an activist from the Alte Stadtgärtnerei. The activist talks about an alternative feminist urban structure. We listen. The activist describes the day of the eviction of the Statzgi, as she affectionately calls it, in 1988. We hear the splintering and see the shards.
COMES TO THE PARK. What are we doing here? We are learning with you how our bodies can remember resistance.
We want to know more. How does intersectional solidarity work in feminist movements in Switzerland 30 years ago and today? We meet Basler*innen for a conversation and collect the traces before they become invisible or taken for granted. We transform them into movement and a temporary park occupation.
We call this STATZGI FLEXEN. Flexing means to separate, to bend, to tense muscles and to show them off.
We will meet you in the park and offer a community-improvement feminist dance trend, between a homage to the fighters of yesteryear and loving-critical engagement in the now.
