Lea Moro – EARS TO SEE

You are in an urban living space, a city. The warm asphalt – the makeup of the city – throbs and vibrates. Your senses are like sensitive antennae. You feel musty soil, smell colored smoke and connect with the movements of water molecules in the air. With pricked ears you listen to the urban environment: Who is speaking there, from the ramifications of the sewers? Where does the language of mystery come from? Why does the air tremble? And who dances with us, on bare concrete?
“Ears to see” (8+) is Lea Moro’s second choreographic work for young audiences, following “Alle Augen Staunen”. On a polyphonic audio journey out of the theater, the audience encounters a series of living beings that speak for themselves. The piece provides an orientation system for blind and visually impaired audiences so they can move through the performance independently. This takes place in all weather, appropriate clothing is required. “Seeing Ears” proposes listening as a mode of responsible, cooperative coexistence with our environment.
“Ears to see” is a production of explore dance – Netzwerk Tanz für junges Publikum, a cooperation project of fabrik moves Potsdam, Fokus Tanz / Tanz und Schule e.V. Munich and K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg, and Lea Moro. Explore dance is supported by TANZPAKT Stadt-Land-Bund with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, the Department of Culture and Media of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the Cultural Department of the City of Munich and the Bavarian State Association for Contemporary Dance with funds from the Bavarian State Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs, as well as the City of Potsdam and the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg. The production is co-produced with Tanzhaus Zürich and is also supported by Stadt Zürich Kultur, Pro Helvetia – Schweizer Kulturstiftung, Stanley Thomas Johnson Stiftung, Elisabeth Weber Stiftung, Schweizerische Interpretenstiftung (SIS).
Accessibility: the performance has an integrated audio description and an auditory guidance system. The audience will be guided outside the theater for the most part. The route traveled will be over meadow, cobblestone, single steps and asphalt. There will be extended periods where standing is required. The audience will be asked to close their eyes and walk along a rope. The audience will receive instructions through headphones, which will not be translated into DGS or easy language.
