KLIMAKONTOR BASEL

Hot summer, laptop at night, open window. Not a single insect, not one, flies around the lamp. I am seized by a silent panic – which I follow from now on in order to transform it. I discover authors like Timothy Morton, Donna Haraway, Bruno Latour, Naomi Klein, Jonathan Safran Foer, Lynn Margulis, and I come across scientists and activists like Claire Wordley, Christiana Figueres and many others, and take the initiative for KlimaKontor together with an accomplice: We share the confidence and (desperate) hope that in cooperation with artists, various cultural figures and experts, illuminating events could be created, dialogues across boundaries could be initiated, transforming experiences could be conveyed that make it tangible that we are all particles in a global network in the middle of the sixth mass extinction. And: that we have the chance right now to create a world in which future generations will also be able to make a living…

KlimaKontor Basel is a rhizomatically acting, mobile office, which inspires actors of the Basel cultural landscape to participatory collaborations. In the four event clusters, which are spread over a period of one year, interdisciplinary art projects are created that provide impulses for answers to the climate crisis.
