As part of her most recent production «Like A Prayer» the Basel-based author and director Corinne Maier questions the foundations upon which faith is based: Why do we believe, what do we believe in and how did this come about? Which events and experiences lead someone abandoning their old way of life and assuming a completely new one? After carrying out research with the Franciscan nun Johanna, who was ordained late in life, at the St. Josef convent in Muothatal, the stage is the meeting place for a devout performer and a non-believing one.
Corinne Maier has been working in documentary theatre since 2010 and is currently working on several new projects in Germany and Switzerland. With Like A Prayer Maier made her return to Basel, Switzerland after touring her production “Past Is Present” (2013) through several European countries and India, and is excited to make her Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut with this profound and challenging play.
