Corinne Maier – DIE ZUFÜGUNG / ÜBER DAS ALTERN UND DEN TOD HINAUS
Today, people are living longer than ever before – but what impact does this have on us, as well as on younger generations? A stage play about ‘age’ has been in the making for some time now – its script was written by Gerlind Reinshagen, arguably the most famous female playwright in West Germany during the 1970s and 80s who, at the age of 94, had plenty of experience in ageing. A team whose members have an age difference of over 60 years was very much looking forward to this cooperation. Initial meetings were taking place. But then the author suddenly died in June 2019 before the actual start of rehearsals – what remains are scraps of conversations, thoughts and some rough notes. Beginnings. This material and the team’s own improvisation practices have resulted in Die Zufügung; the title that Gerlind Reinshagen came up with before her death.
