Ariane Andereggen – AGE ON STAGE
If age is nothing more than a number, then why do one in two companies not hire people over the age of 50? The theatre is also a place that creates such age and gender-based exclusion. The latest performance by Ariane Andereggen deals with a «cultural-political research hole» in which ageing actors, especially between the age of 45 and 60, somehow disappear from the stage and also from «life». Social old age with all its attributions is dealt with here as a subversive-dysfunctional audition in search of new roles besides the role. Loud and visible against the gentle outplacement and internalised self-censorship. If the interpretation of the so-called «female» ageing process belongs to us, then we can get rid of it!
